PETRIDIS SOTIRIS

Sotiris Petridis is an independent filmmaker, having to his credit fifteen short films, one feature film and selected audiovisual spots. He is a member of the Hellenic Film Academy, a member of the European Film Academy, a member of the Greek Directors Guild and a member of the Greek Screenwriters Guild.

More specifically, his filmography includes award-winning short films such as The Balloon (2013), e-Social (2015), White Collar (2016), #NotAlone (2017), 9023 (2017), Re-Live (2019), Sad Girl Weekend (2019) and the feature film Scopophilia (2018). His films have traveled to over 40 countries and 300 International Festivals, winning dozens of awards. Among the festivals his films have traveled to are the following: 

Thessaloniki International Film Festival, International Short Drama Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival, Vienna Shorts, International Film Festival Karlovy Vary, Izmir International Short Film Festival, Comic-Con International, Sarajevo Film Festival, Washington West International Film Festival, Leiden Shorts, Festival Internacional de Cine de Lebu, and Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival - several of which are recognized as Oscar Qualified by the American Motion Picture Academy.

In addition to the practice of film direction and production, he is also involved in academic research and teaching of the audiovisual medium. Since 2012, he has taught film courses at various private and public schools, such as the Hellenic Open University, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Higher Drama School "Andreas Voutsinas", I.E.K. AKMI and at the Thessaloniki Art School. At the same time, he has written academic books and articles about cinema and audiovisual storytelling that help in the study of the medium.
