LALOPOULOU ELENA
() DIRECTORElena Lalopoulou is a TV and film director. She graduated with a scholarship from the Directing Department of the Lykourgos Stavrakos Film and Television School. She has also studied the art of black and white photography with Platon Rivellis. She is a graduate of the Department of European Studies, with a Sociological focus, of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the H.O.U. and holds a Master's degree in Documentary Filmmaking and Production from the Faculty of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean. In 2019 she was selected by the University of Bologna to complete her diploma thesis in Historical Documentary.
She has directed 60 hour-long documentaries in the historical documentary television series Why 21? 12 Questions (the series is also available in English for international audiences), Historical Walks (Botsis Award 2019) and current affairs missions Special Missions.
For several years, she has been working for ERT S.A. as a director in the General Directorate of Information and News. She has collaborated with various companies such as Filmiki Productions, 24 Media, Thiinkle, Giftapp, Pinnatta and Pulsar Group, providing audiovisual production services and artistic direction of interactive applications and interactive advertising, as well as creating product communication trailers.
She has been a director of central bulletins, news and political broadcasts, external broadcasts, presidential and prime ministerial coverage, live streaming of extraordinary or major events, news bulletins, creation of communication trailers and conceptual trailers for broadcasts.
She has presented and published papers and lectures on the following topics at the Global Politics conference (2013) of the Freie Universitat Berlin The role of Media in the European Cooperation, The White Paper on the European communication policy & Gatekeeping – The Flow of News. She was selected for the training program for co-production of historical documentaries History Doc organized in 2007 by the European Documentary Network EDN, with the participation of distinguished executives of television organizations such as BBC, ZDF, History Channel and Discovery Channel, as well as independent directors and producers from all over the world.
She has created two short films (16mm and 35mm) with participations at the Drama and Berlin Festivals. She is a member of the Greek Directors Association and has taught the courses Art of Directing and Actors' Direction at public IEKs. She has been awarded as a visual artist, and has illustrated for theatre books. She has worked as a photographer and photojournalist.
