ANDREOU ANDREAS

Born in Athens. He studied directing and dramaturgy at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Classics at King’s College London (Schilizzi Foundation Scholarship). Theatre and cinema masterclasses attended with Patrick Marber, Thomas Ostermeier, Ian Rickson, Lyndsey Turner, Vassilis Papavassiliou et al. Trained as an actor in the method of Theodoros Terzopoulos. Theatre directing credits include plays by Samuel Beckett, Caryl Churchill, Tim Crouch, Thornton Wilder et al. With his plays My Death Etc. (2016) and M.A.Z.I. (2017) he represented the Experimental Stage of the National Theatre of Greece under the aegis of UTE (Union des Théâtres de l'Europe) for international festivals. Together with Thodoris Gonis and Eleni Stroulia he adapted and co-directed Pantelis Boukalas’s book The Abbatoir of Love (2022). Since 2016 he works with Rimini Protokoll in major international projects (Staat 1-4, win > < win, Bubble Jam). In addition, he has translated plays and texts about theatre and he has edited several publications. He is a founding member of the bilingual ACT II magazine. His first short film, By Heart (2022), constitutes a study on the interplay between theatre and cinema, which he is keen to explore further.
